A graduate of the State University of New York Maritime College and the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Wayne Schepens is a highly regarded information technology specialist with over 16 years of experience as a management consultant and product developer. Also an engineer, writer, public speaker, educator, and business strategist, Wayne Schepens has fulfilled many roles successfully. Wayne Schepens was a Test Engineer Instructor and Nuclear Test Engineer at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Virginia and also worked as an Electrical Engineer for Envisions, Inc., later serving as a Systems Test Engineer at the Dahlgren Division of the Naval Surface Warfare Center. There, Wayne Schepens was responsible for the computerized interface of the Advanced Tomahawk Weapons Control System.
Also serving in the public sector as an educator at The United States Military Academy at West Point and several other well-known schools, Wayne Schepens instructed students on the protection of information systems from network attackers and other threats. Wayne Schepens created, implemented, and deployed the Cyber Defense Exercise (CDX), which allowed students to practice network defense in the real world.
Also employed by the National Security Administration (NSA), Wayne Schepens co-created the agency’s National Threat Operations Center. The expertise that Wayne Schepens contributed in his past roles led him to accept a position as the Chief of the NSA’s Office of Global Network Awareness, where he oversaw over 100 personnel and managed a multi-million dollar budget.
Currently working with his own firm, WayneWright Strategy, Mr. Wayne Schepens provides commercial product development strategy and positioning services to early stage software companies. Mr. Schepens’ services include consulting on commercialization, product marketing and positioning, as well as business planning, requirements analysis, feasibility studies, and competitive analysis.
